A luscious plate of mutton curry oozing aroma in the air can be a therapy for a true gastronome. Having said that, have you tried the Champaran special Handi mutton curry yet? The Champaran mutton curry is slow-cooked over charcoal in traditional earthen pots. These curries are spicier and highly delectable. They can be relished with rotis, parathas as well as rice. The earthen pots or handis help in the retention of the authentic flavour of the dish. A woman in Rohini has brought the original Champaran curries to the streets of Delhi and we can’t wait to relish them.

Relish Champaran Handi Meat Curry In North Delhi

Mrs.Neha in Rohini prepares mouthwatering Champaran meat curries in her mini streetside stall, MDM Champaran Meat House. Her food stall has a line-up of handis where the dishes are cooked following the traditional process. She first coats the lower portion of each handi from the outside with clay. She then marinates onions, meat and other ingredients with secret spices and oil in a huge bowl. Next, she transfers the marinated mixture into the handis and seals them with dough. The handis are then put over piping-hot charcoal to slow-cook the curries.

The warmth of her hospitality is reflected in the pleasant smile on her face. In the video uploaded by Chirag, she puts onions, bay leaves, chicken, garlic, turmeric, red chilli powder and oil inside a large bowl. She mixes and transfers them to a handi. She then seals the handi and cooks the curry over the hot charcoal. Another video of the shop was also uploaded on YouTube channel Oye foodieee.
