Three Keralites have decided to turn their passion for cycling into an adventure of a lifetime. Haseeb Ahsan, Cliffin Francis, and Dona Jacob will be undertaking a cycling marathon commencing on December 15th 2019. The three Keralites will be cycling 10,000 km in 8 countries for 230 days, to reach Tokyo on July 24th, 2019 for the opening day of the Tokyo Olympics. But these passionate cyclists have a bigger mission than this. They will be cycling to create awareness on mental health, menstrual health, and hygiene. During their cycling marathon, the trio will be visiting schools and NGOs around the country to create awareness on these issues. It sure is cycling for a cause.

Haseeb Ahsan, Cliffin Francis and Dona Jacob are not professional cyclists. 29-year-old Cliffin Francis has the most experience when it comes to professional cycling, as she cycled from Dubai to Moscow for the 2018 Fifa World Cup. The three of them attended the same college together in Kerala, but they got to know each other better quite later. Their passion for travelling and cycling has brought the trio together to achieve much larger and nobler goals in life together.

During their 220 days journey, the trio will pass through Bangalore, Vishakapatnam, Bhubaneshwar, Calcutta, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Bangladesh, Thailand, Laos, Vietnam, China and then head to Japan. They will also have a tight daily budget of around ₹1000 per person. So instead of staying in fancy lodges or hotels, they will be pitching tents and camping wherever possible. The trio will also be carrying basic utensils to cook food on the way.

And at the end of their trip, they will be also having a special video depicting their cycling experiences on Youtube. But you would have to wait for that.
