Amidst the hustle and bustle of railway travel, a recent incident served as a stark reminder of the importance of safety and vigilance on the tracks. Passengers aboard the Tinsukia-Bengaluru Superfast Express found themselves in a heart-pounding situation as smoke mysteriously filled an air-conditioned coach at Malda station in West Bengal. The rapid response of railway authorities was a testament to their dedication to passenger safety. They swiftly replaced the affected compartment and averted a potential disaster.
Smoke Detected In AC Coach If Tinsukia-Bengaluru Express
As per the reports from PTI via Times Now News, following a predetermined stop at Malda Junction, the train continued on its route as the incident took place. Around 7 o’clock, watchful passengers and railroad employees noticed smoke coming from the B1 coach, which prompted them to take immediate action to protect the passengers’ safety.
According to a representative for Eastern Railway, the train was immediately brought back to Malda. Once the problematic coach was swapped out for another, the journey resumed around 9:30 p.m. Thankfully, there were no injuries reported as a result of the incident. Railway authorities are currently investigating what caused the smoke.

Railway Staff And Passengers Team Up
This incident serves as a sobering reminder of the crucial role that safety precautions and attentive staff play in the railway sector. In fact, it took place just a few days after a tragic incident in Tamil Nadu’s Madurai railway station. A stationary train compartment caught fire in the state and at least 10 people lost their lives. Numerous other injuries were also reported in the accident. The incident involved a “private party coach” that was carrying 65 passengers from Lucknow.
When it caught fire, it highlighted the crucial role that first responders and railroad personnel play in handling such emergencies. In both cases, averting further damage was greatly helped by the quick and well-coordinated actions of railway personnel.
