Well, for the first time in 89 years, Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) board declared its net worth and it will totally shock you. The world-famous Lord Venkateswara’s abode has a net worth of ₹2.5 lakh crores (about USD 30 billion). This is more than the market capitalisation of Wipro and Nestle India. Here’s all about it.
Tirupati Temple Has Net Worth Of ₹2.5 lakh Crores
Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams, the keeper of the temple dedicated to Tirupati’s presiding deity, for the first time since its establishment in 1933, declared its net worth. The ₹2.5 lakh crore net worth is well above the market capitalisation of giant IT firms like Wipro, state-owned Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) and even food and beverage giant Nestle India.

The Tirupati temple’s assets include ₹16,000 crore in bank deposits, 960 properties across India, 2.5 tonnes of gold jewellery and 10.25 tonnes of gold deposits, to name a few. Interestingly, the famous temple deposited a whopping 1175 kg of gold with the State Bank of India as an interest in 2010. Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams also generates revenue through hair tonsuring. The human hair offered by devotees to the temple is auctioned for nearly ₹125 crores.

The Temple Has Many Rich & Famous Devotees
One of the wealthiest temples in the world, Tirupati Temple has rich and famous devotees like Jahnvi Kapoor, the Bachchans, Ekta Kapoor and even Deepika Padukone. This is a very powerful wish-fulfilling temple. Interestingly, only 24 companies have a larger market valuation than the temple’s net worth. And the list includes Mukesh Ambani’s Reliance Industries Ltd with ₹17.53 lakh crore, Tata Consultancy Services with ₹11.76 lakh crore and Infosys with ₹6.37 lakh crore to name a few.
