IndiGo, one of India’s leading airlines, has been gripped with operational disruptions that have led to widespread flight cancellations and delays at airports across the country. Delhi, Mumbai and Bengaluru airports are the worst hit by this air travel crisis. Meanwhile, on  Wednesday, frustrated fliers at Delhi Airport T1 staged a protest. A viral video shows passengers holding a dharna, chanting “Humari maangey puri karo” (Fulfil our demands). Here’s more on what happened.

Delhi Airport T1 Sees Protest By IndiGo Fliers

An X user, Prakash Dadlani, took to the microblogging platform to share an unusual protest taking place at Delhi Airport. At Terminal 1, angry fliers were seen crowding around an IndiGo counter and screaming slogans. “IndiGo haye haye!”, “Humari maangey puri karo” were being heard by Dadlani. Accompanying a video was his caption, “Shit’s getting real at Delhi T1.”

This is one of many videos at an Indian airport circulating on social media. The dissent, public inconvenience are clearly noticeable across social media platforms. Expressing their displeasure, fliers can be heard chanting, “Bandh Karo, Bandh Karo” (Shut it down). Netizens were amused watching this protest happening at the airport. One person commented that they were protesting in front of the CRPF instead of the IndiGo employees. Another commenter was worried about protesting passengers being put on the no-fly list, where they won’t be able to board a flight for lifelong.

Netizens Share Their Opinions

A person even commented about managers seeing their employees create “hungama” at the airport. Later, the X user added another video where he expressed that he felt bad for the IndiGo staff who were equally helpless. They didn’t have updates and were just holding fort. To avoid situations from getting heated, he stressed the need for the staff to provide regular updates and seamless communication. Finally, the X user revealed that the IndiGo flight took off after a 10-hour delay.
