An IndiGo flight, bound for Delhi, avoided a major scare at Lucknow Airport on Saturday after it failed to take off as planned. It was carrying 151 passengers and was forced to abort takeoff, averting what could have been a serious mishap. Here’s what happened.
Lucknow-Delhi IndiGo Flight Aborts Takeoff
According to India Today, at 11 AM on Saturday, an IndiGo flight from Lucknow to Delhi failed to lift off properly at Lucknow Airport, forcing the pilots to abort takeoff. The pilot quickly applied emergency brakes to bring the aircraft to a complete stop and prevent a potential runway overrun.
The Lucknow-Delhi IndiGo flight was carrying 151 passengers, including MP Dimple Yadav, and six crew members. They were all safely deplaned without injury. As per the eyewitnesses of the incident, the plane failed to become airborne, and the pilot had to hit the emergency brakes as it had neared the end of the runway. The passengers were accommodated on different flights to their destination afterwards.
Abu Dhabi Flight Returned To Kochi
On September 6, an IndiGo flight bound for Abu Dhabi returned to Kochi due to a technical snag in the engine. The flight returned to Kochi shortly after takeoff. In a statement, IndiGo said that the technical issue was detected on the flight and, as a precautionary step, the pilots decided to turn back and the aircraft landed safely at Cochin International Airport.
In August, an IndiGo Airbus A321’s tail touched the runway during a go-around at Mumbai airport in heavy rain. The aircraft later landed safely. The incident occurred while executing a low-altitude go-around due to unfavourable weather conditions.
