Key Benefits Of The Cost Reduction
The cost reduction is said to bring a lot of benefits to both the authorities and the travellers. People can now travel and get the same service at a cheaper cost.
Amarnath Sahai, regional manager, Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (UPSRTC), told the portal that this move aims to encourage more commuters to opt for city buses. He noted that the growing number of e-rickshaws has added to traffic jams. With the fare reduction, authorities expect more passengers to shift to buses, which will help ease road traffic. A regular passenger from Gomti Nagar in Lucknow also told the portal that the reduced fare would bring significant monthly savings for those travelling twice daily.
As the officials said, the fare revision is part of a wider plan to promote public transport, reduce congestion and reduce pollution. Additionally, the board also permitted re-tendering of 40 bus shelters under the Smart City project and cleared the removal of end-of-life buses through auction with modified conditions to attract better involvement.
