Mumbai Metro One will implement a revised operating pattern on Metro Line 1 between Versova and Ghatkopar from August 10, aimed at controlling heavy passenger demand during the rush hour on the busy corridor. Read on to know more.

Andheri-Ghatkopar Metro One To Revise Operation From August 1o

As per a report by News18, under the new plan, the line will operate on a mixed-loop system, with short-loop trains operating between Andheri and Ghatkopar alternately, with services running across the full Versova-Ghatkopar route. The upgrade is designed to add more services to the busiest stretch without increasing the frequency across the entire line.

The Andheri-Ghatkopar section has been selected for the additional services as it records the highest passenger load on Metro Line 1. As part of the revised schedule, short-loop trains between Andheri and Ghatkopar will operate from 6:23 PM to 8:23 PM during the evening rush. According to Metro One officials, the average interval between trains on this stretch will reduce from around 3.2 minutes to 3 minutes.

The operator expects the revised arrangement to increase passenger-carrying capacity by around 20%, allowing the system to accommodate approximately 28,000 additional commuters. The number of daily services on Metro Line 1 will also increase from 476 to 484 trips.
