The central and state governments are collaborating to develop the previously neglected border areas.On Thursday, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami inaugurated the 42-seater Alliance Air flight on the Dehradun-Pithoragarh route at Jolly Grant Airport in Dehradun. Dehradun-Pithoragarh Flight Inauguration
As per a report by Asia Net News, the CM inaugurated the Dehradun-Pithoragarh flight service at Jolly Grant Airport. On the occasion, he also stated that the launch of the 42-seater aircraft service will reduce travel time between the two cities to just one hour and is considered strategically very important.

The Chief Minister also talked about the UDAN scheme that allows affordable travel. He noted that air travel used to be accessible only to the privileged class. However, with the launch of the UDAN scheme, the aviation sector is connecting smaller cities and remote and border areas to the air network and providing affordable air services to the common people. Highlighting the benefits of the UDAN scheme, the minister said that currently 26 air routes are operational in the state under the scheme. Not only this, but the Uttarakhand Air Connectivity Scheme was also launched in 2023, under which flights are operating on a regular basis on six routes. For the past four years, the heliports in the state have increased from 2 to 12, while helipads have grown from 60 to 118.

Pushkar Singh Dhami also shed light on the launch of the Dehradun-Pithoragarh air service and how it will benefit people. Daily commuters can now travel to and from the cities in just an hour. This will give a significant boost to the local economy. Both central and state governments are working together to work towards the development of the border areas, which were neglected for years in the past. Additionally, the government has initiated helicopter services between Pithorgarh and Munsyari.
The government is also working on the development of Pithoragarh Airport with a budget of ₹450 crore. The airport will be built with modern amenities to ensure feasible and smooth access for passengers.
