The portal of Lord Shiva’s Kedarnath Temple, located in the Garhwal Himalayas of Uttarakhand, is all set to open on April 22, 2026. The announcement was made recently. Where Is The Kedarnath Temple?
One of the 12 Jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva, Kedarnath Temple is located on the Garhwal Himalayan range near the Mandakini River in Uttarakhand. According to a report by The Times of India, the portals of this Lord Shiva temple will reopen to devotees on April 22 at 8 am. The date and time were decided on the auspicious occasion of Maha Shivratri at its winter seat, Omkareshwar Temple.
The date and time were finalised after proper traditional rituals and calculations by the authorities. The ceremony at Omkareshwar Temple was attended by Kedarnath Rawal (chief priest), Bhimashankar Ling, Kedarnath MLA Asha Nautiyal, and senior members of the Badrinath-Kedarnath Temple Committee (BKTC), including the chairman and vice-chairman. Priests and hundreds of devotees were also present at the ceremony. The Omkareshwar Temple was decorated with nearly 10 quintals of flowers.

What Are The Char Dham Yatra Dates This Year?
According to a report by The Times of India, officials also announced the schedule for the ceremonial Panchmukhi Doli of Lord Kedarnath. The palanquin will depart from Omkareshwar Temple on April 19 for Phata. It will make a brief stop at Gaurikund the following day and reach Kedarnath Temple on April 21. The doors of the temple will open to pilgrims on the morning of April 22. Rituals at the winter seat, including Bhairavnath worship, will conclude by April 18.
Apart from announcing the Kedarnath Temple reopening date, the schedule for the Char Dham Yatra was also finalised. Reportedly, the portals of Gangotri Temple and Yamunotri Temple will reopen on April 19, on the day of Akshaya Tritiya. The Badrinath Temple will reopen on April 23. Officials are now working to make preparations for the yatra, including inspections of offices and guest houses.
