Rooms in five-star hotels in Delhi are a class apart and quite expensive. But is it really worth paying ₹5 lakh per night to stay in one? In February, most top luxury hotels in Delhi are not just charging over ₹1 lakh, they are also completely sold out. This development has sparked serious debate online. Here’s why this is happening and what netizens are saying.
Delhi’s 5 Star Hotels See A Rare Booking Rush
Delhi is now gearing up for the much-anticipated AI Impact Summit 2026. The summit is scheduled from February 16-20 at Bharat Mandapam. More than 35,000 delegates from around the world are expected to attend this high-profile event. According to a report by News18, top technology executives, diplomats and policymakers will be in Delhi for the summit.
Ahead of this grand event, the capital’s five-star hotels are witnessing a rare booking rush. The surge is not just about numbers but also about the profile of guests. High-security delegations, corporate teams and international media crews are expected in the city. Google CEO Sundar Pichai and OpenAI head Sam Altman are also likely to attend. Because of these high-profile guests, luxury hotels in Delhi have tightened room availability.

Hotels Charging Between ₹4-5 Lakh Per Night
According to News18, several five-star hotels are quoting rates far above their usual range. At Taj Palace, New Delhi, a Garden Luxury Suite with a pool view is currently priced at ₹27.66 lakh per night. Rooms that normally cost between ₹20,000 and ₹40,000 per night are now touching ₹4-5 lakh around the dates of the summit.
Hotels like The Leela Palace and ITC Maurya have also hiked their rates for the summit period. Central Delhi properties such as The Imperial, Shangri-La Eros and The Park Hotel are nearly sold out. This has triggered strong reactions online. Former Infosys CFO Mohandas Pai called the pricing “absurd” and warned that such spikes could leave a poor impression on visitors. Many other netizens agreed with him.
