Travelling Abroad? The Delhi Government Is Giving Free Booster Shots To All Adults

The Union government has been offering free booster shots to adults who are aged 60 and above. But now the Delhi government has decided to offer booster shots to all the adults, that is people from 18 to 59 years of age for free. With this decision, now two million people are eligible for precautionary doses of the Covid-19 vaccine if they have completed their primary vaccination in the past nine months.

Announcement By The Directorate Of Family Welfare

Dr Monika Rane, Directorate of Family Welfare in Delhi, issued an order stating that the booster shots will be available for free across all government-run centres in Delhi for adults from the age of 18 to 59 as they fall under the eligible beneficiary category being adults.

Necessary Changes In The Co-WIN

Offering both walk-ins and appointments for the vaccine, the government of Delhi has made the necessary changes in the Co-WIN. An officer who supervises the vaccination at the district level stated that the beneficiaries do not have to register afresh for the booster shots. As part of the vaccination process, the vaccinator will locate the beneficiary’s vaccination record, verify that it matches the identity, confirm whether the data available on Co-WIN is correct, and, upon successful verification, give the precaution dosage.

Important To Administer Booster Shots

As the covid cases are again on a rise it is very important for the beneficiaries to take the booster shots of the Covid vaccine on time in order to keep themselves and others around them safe is what the head of the department of community medicine at Safdarjung Hospital, Dr Jugal Kishore said.
