Hyderabad’s Commissioner of Food Safety, Telangana, took to its X (formerly Twitter) handle to make a concerning announcement. The Food Safety Task Force and FSOs conducted a surprise raid across 10 Absolute Barbecues outlets in Hyderabad. The food safety inspections were conducted at the restaurant’s Secunderabad, Miyapur, Gachibowli, Jubilee Hills, Medipally, AS Rao Nagar, Kompally, Banjara Hills, Inorbit and Vanasthalipuram outlets.
The post included images of meat tossed in the sink, rotten vegetables, dirty kitchens and unhygienic environments at these outlets. The complaint was lodged with the Commissioner of Food Safety on September 9. At the restaurant’s Banjara Hills and Gachibowli outlets, the team came across dirty utensils, unclean fridges and cockroach infestation.
Rat Faeces, Fungus-Infested Food Found
The Medipally outlet had expired food, while the Inorbit one had rotten fruits and fungal infestation. The food safety inspectors also came across food stored on the floor and beetle-infested flour at Absolute Barbecues’ AS Rao Nagar outlet. There were also rat faces on racks. Since tehse were violations of the Food Safety and Standards Regulations 2020, the items were seized and notices were issued to the restaurant.
