We all know that Mumbai has always been known for its strict traffic rules, from compulsory helmets to signal jumping. The city also continues to struggle with heavy traffic, mainly because of vehicles parked on the road. Mumbai Traffic Police Announces New Traffic Rules
As per the new rules announced by the Mumbai Traffic Police, heavy vehicles, which are mainly the cause of traffic, cannot enter the city during busy hours. According to Times Now, traffic officials said that 8 am to 11 am, and 5 pm to 9 pm are the busiest hours in the city. The police also cited the rising number of vehicles and ongoing infrastructure projects as major reasons for frequent traffic jams.
Not only this, but the rules get even more strict in South Mumbai. How? All heavy vehicles are banned from 7 am to 12 midnight. This includes luxury buses too. Only vehicles with essential goods will be allowed, and heavy vehicles will get entry only between 12 midnight and 7 am. Apart from South Mumbai, luxury buses are allowed in other parts of the city.

New Parking Rules In Mumbai
There’s also a major change in parking rules. Heavy vehicles in Mumbai can no longer park on public roads. They must stick to private, rented, or authorised pay-and-park spaces. When it comes to water tankers, the limit is two, and parking is allowed only near water supply points.
According to Times Now, while the rules have become stricter, some vehicles can still operate without any limitations. Truck carrying vegetables, milk, bread, bakery products, drinking water, petrol, diesel, and kerosene, along with ambulances, school buses, and government or semi-government vehicles, can operate at any hour.
