The Hindu community in Berlin, Germany, marked a historic milestone with the grand opening of the Sri Ganesha Temple on June 8, 2026. Sri Ganesha Temple Opens In Berlin
Following a grand Maha Kumbhabhishekam ceremony and days of festivities, the Sri Ganesha Temple has officially opened its doors to devotees in the Neukölln district in Berlin, Germany. According to The CSR Journal, the new temple, with its 17-metre-high intricately carved entrance tower (Gopuram), makes it one of the largest Hindu temples in Europe.
The inauguration saw not just rituals but also cultural activities and music performances by many devotees. Reportedly, the temple was founded on September 25, 2005, and had been undergoing a construction process spanning over two decades. The project has been entirely financed through donations and voluntary services.

Temple Will Welcome Visitors From Diverse Backgrounds
According to The CSR Journal, the Sri Ganesha Temple in Berlin is registered as a non-profit organisation by the Finanzamt für Körperschaften. It is governed by a board of ten volunteers and supported by three pujaris who will oversee the religious activities in the temple. Its Gopuram is made entirely from hand-carved granite sourced from Tamil Nadu. The design showcases the craftsmanship of Indian stonemasons.
The temple will remain open to the public every day from 4 pm to 6 pm. There will be daily rituals, including Aarti, conducted both in the morning and evening. The temple will welcome visitors from diverse backgrounds. Plus, it aims to foster a sense of unity among people living in Berlin. Moreover, Hindu children will now have a dedicated space to learn about their rituals and celebrate festivals like Diwali, Navratri, Ganesh Chaturthi, and more with their community.
