If you’re flying to Florida soon, you might notice a major change because Palm Beach International Airport could soon be renamed after US President Donald Trump. On Monday, the Florida governor signed legislation paving the way for the international airport’s renaming. Here’s everything we know so far.

Bill Passed To Rename Florida International Airport After Trump

After buildings, institutions, and government programs, US President Donald Trump may soon have an international airport named after him. A week after Representative Brian Mast introduced a proposal to change the three-letter code of Palm Beach International Airport from PBI to DJT, after Trump’s initials, the state has now passed a bill to rename the airport.

According to Moneycontrol, Florida approved legislation on Monday allowing several commercial airports, including Orlando International Airport and Miami International Airport, to be renamed. However, the only proposal currently under consideration applies to Palm Beach.

Reacting to the development, the Republican Party of Florida said on X that the state was “making it official,” calling the proposed name change of the Florida airport a “landmark tribute” to Trump.

All You Need To Know About This

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has signed a bill allowing Palm Beach International Airport to be renamed the President Donald J. Trump International Airport. Now, it is to be noted that the name change will require approval from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).

According to Reuters, a formal request must be submitted to the FAA, which will then update flight charts, navigation databases, and airport signage. If approved, the change could take effect as early as July, formally rebranding the airport near Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate in his name.
