Miss Universe Thailand

What if your favourite Thai dishes were turned into dramatic pageant costumes? Well, that’s exactly what happened at the Miss Universe Thailand 2026 national costume competition, and the results were as colourful and over-the-top as you can imagine. Scroll on to know more about this.

Miss Universe Thailand Food Costume Takes Creativity To Another Level

Held on August 18, the national costume segment of Miss Universe Thailand 2026 followed the theme “Fruits & Food”. According to Singapore-based 8days, all 77 contestants, representing Thailand’s 77 provinces, showcased larger-than-life outfits inspired by the dishes, produce and food culture associated with their respective regions.

And no, these weren’t your usual embellished gowns and elaborate headpieces. The contestants transformed themselves into everything from Pad Thai and grilled chicken to coconut desserts, giant shrimp and even a traditional fruit vendor.

Some of the most eye-catching costumes celebrated dishes and ingredients closely associated with the contestants’ provinces. Representing Khon Kaen, Sasiprapa Vitayatanagorn turned up in a costume inspired by the region’s famous grilled chicken and even carried an actual piece of grilled chicken during her walk.

Then there was Phairin Srekaew from Uthai Thani, who took inspiration from Pad Thai, complete with giant noodles incorporated into her dramatic costume.

Sunisa Pinklab from Trat took the food theme to another level by transforming into a giant shrimp, while Thanatchaporn Pankaew from Ratchaburi arrived on a boat piled with coconuts, recreating the look of a traditional floating market.

Fashion But With A Twist Of Thailand’s Culinary Culture

The costumes weren’t limited to savoury dishes either. Rutchaneekorn Prasertpornsak from Chonburi paid tribute to Khanom Sai Sai, a traditional coconut dessert wrapped in banana leaves. Her costume even featured multiple transformations during her walk.

Another standout was Tharina Botes from Bangkok, whose costume represented a classic Thai meal and celebrated the country’s famous balance of sweet, sour, salty and spicy flavours.

While the costumes were certainly designed to grab attention, the theme also put Thailand’s food culture and regional identities front and centre. Each of the 77 contestants used food or produce associated with her province to create a distinctive look, turning the national costume segment into a colourful showcase of the country’s rich culinary diversity.
