Thailand May Introduce A Foreign Visitor Fee
According to The Nation Thailand, the destination is planning to launch its Thai Travel Thai Plus domestic tourism subsidy in September, along with a foreign visitor fee. These funds will help with tourism-site development, visitor protection and environmental restoration.
Not just that, but the money will also help enhance visitor safety. However, the implementation date has not yet been announced by the authorities. These two measures were announced by Tourism and Sports Minister Surasak Phancharoenworakul at the first 2026 meeting of the Subcommittee on the Development of Trade, Tourism and the Community Economy.

Thailand Also Plans Travel Subsidy For Domestic Tourists
Now let’s talk about the travel subsidy. According to The Thaiger, under the proposed domestic scheme called Thai Travel Thai Plus, the government would cover 50% of eligible travel spending, up to 3,000 baht per entitlement. Travellers would receive a voucher worth 1,000 baht for meals, attractions, tourism products, community goods, guided tours and car rentals. This scheme is being planned to boost domestic tourism in Thailand and support the economy.
