For the trip, Kamiya pampered her girls with a Business Class surprise! Wanting her loved ones to enjoy nothing but the best, she chose to fly with Vietnam’s national carrier, Vietnam Airlines. Travelling with family, Kamiya decided to explore Vietnam’s holy trinity of destinations—Hanoi, Da Nang and Ho Chi Minh City—and each stop had something unique to offer.
The journey began in Hanoi, where the family explored the city’s iconic sights before heading to the famous Train Street. Keen to try the local cuisine, they ordered the much-loved Vietnamese pho. Let’s admit, they did crave desi khaana because for the next eight days, the family happily stuck to Indian food! If you’re craving familiar flavours, they highly recommend Indian Gate in Hanoi for what they called one of the best Paneer Makhanis’.

Next came Da Nang, or as Kamiya likes to call it, Goa’s Vietnamese cousin. With its pristine beaches, buzzing nightlife and breathtaking mountain views, it quickly became a family favourite. One of the highlights was taking the scenic cable car ride to the Instagram-famous Golden Bridge at Ba Na Hills. They also explored funicular trains, watched live performances, admired vintage cars and ended the day shopping and enjoying a relaxing foot massage at the lively Son Tra Night Market.

In Da Nang, you cannot miss –

The adventure didn’t stop there. The family also paddled through the waterways of Cam Thanh Coconut Village in traditional basket boats before heading to Hoi An Ancient Town, a beautifully preserved UNESCO World Heritage Site that’s perfect for a leisurely day trip from Da Nang.
The final stop was Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam’s shopping capital. From bustling markets to beautiful colonial-era landmarks, the city offered the perfect mix of sightseeing and retail therapy, and yes, the ladies shopped to their hearts’ content.

A Handy Vietnam Travel Guide For Indian Tourists

1. Apply for your e-Visa in advance.
You can easily apply for one online and make sure you keep a printed and digital copy handy before you travel.
2. Book direct flights.
Vietnam is well connected to India with direct flights from Mumbai, Delhi, Bengaluru, Ahmedabad, and Kolkata to Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, making it easier than ever to plan a getaway. 3. Carry Vietnamese Dong.
While cards are accepted at most places, cash is always preferred by local markets, cafes, taxis, and street food stalls.
4. Use the ‘Grab’ app to commute around Vietnam.
Vietnamese taxis are notoriously famous for exorbitant and inconsistently priced fares. So, it’s best to choose options like Grab, Vietnam’s version of Uber, to get around cities like Hanoi, Da Nang, and Ho Chi Minh City.
5. Try the local cuisine, but know what’s on your plate.
Vietnam’s food scene is incredible, but if you’re vegetarian or have specific dietary preferences, always ask about the ingredients and how the dish is prepared before ordering. The good news? Major cities also have plenty of vegetarian and Indian restaurants if you’re craving familiar flavours.
6. Complete your mandatory pre-arrival form 48 hours before your flight
Fill out the mandatory pre-immigration form online at least 48 hours before your flight to enjoy a smoother airport experience and avoid long queues.
