Andhra Pradesh has unveiled an ambitious plan to transform Gandikota, also called the Grand Canyon of India, into a world-class tourism hub by 2025. The vision includes luxury hotels, eco-friendly tent cities, and adventure-driven attractions, with a focus on balancing sustainability and global-standard hospitality. Gandikota To Turn Into A World-Class Tourism Hub

According to Deccan Chronicle, Gandikota won the ‘Most Promising New Destination’ award at the Business Leisure Travel and MICE Exhibition (BLTM 2025) in New Delhi recently. It won under the ‘Responsible Tourism Awards’ category.

Located in Kadapa, the popular tourist destination is renowned for its scenic landscape, pink granite rocks, and historic fort. Andhra Pradesh now plans to develop world-class MICE facilities at Gandikota and other destinations, offering corporate events and incentive packages as it aims to emerge as a leader in the MICE tourism segment, media reports suggest.

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu recently visited Gandikota and initiated development projects worth ₹78 crore under the SASKY scheme. He also announced plans to form a master plan for the development of Gandikota as a top world-class tourist destination.

As per Deccan Chronicle’s report, the development plan includes the construction of star-rated hotels that will give visitors the opportunity to enjoy world-class amenities while soaking in the natural beauty of the place. That’s not all, the authorities have also proposed various plans like eco-friendly tent cities and boating facilities to attract tourists. For adventure seekers, they have some exciting plans in store as well!

To expand accessibility, the state government also plans to build a ropeway in Gandikota. Another exciting development features a glass-bottom walkway, allowing people to view the historic and natural beauty of the area. They will also light up the landmark fort in Gandikota and host light-and-sound shows to enhance the visitor experience.
