Every year, the Met Gala happens with a very specific theme and dress code. This year, the theme was ‘Costume Art’ and the dress code was ‘Fashion Is Art’.
Isha Ambani, a businesswoman and the daughter of Mukesh Ambani and Nita Ambani, walked the red carpet in a custom-made Gaurav Gupta saree made with pure gold threads. Yes, she looked beautiful. As per Hindustan Times, the blouse of the saree even featured heirloom stones from her mother Nita Ambani’s private collection. But what caught our eye was the mango she carried with her look. The mango looked surprisingly real. But no, it is not.
Isha Ambani revealed that the mango is a 20-year-old sculpture by Indian artist Subodh Gupta. Yes, the mango looks realistic, like a juicy Alphonso, but it is an accessory!

Indian celebrities Who Turned Heads At Met Gala 2026
Not just Isha Ambani, many Indian celebrities turned heads on the red carpet this year. Designer Manish Malhotra wore an Indian bandhgala layered with an architectural cape crafted over 960 hours by 50 artisans across Delhi and Mumbai. His design included Indian techniques like dori work, zardozi, and chikankari.
Indian filmmaker and producer Karan Johar wore a design by Manish Malhotra on the Met Gala red carpet. His costume focused on storytelling and took the legacy of Raja Ravi Varma in motion.
Ananya Birla made her Met Gala debut. According to ABP Live, she wore a custom Robert Wun creation paired with a metallic mask by artist Subodh Gupta. Many other Indian celebrities were present at the Met Gala this year, including Sudha Reddy in Manish Malhotra, Natasha Poonawalla in a Marc Quinn-inspired look, and Gauravi Kumari with Sawai Padmanabh Singh in Prabal Gurung designs.
