Massachusetts Declares August 15 As India Day
Massachusetts Governor Maura Healey has officially announced August 15 as India Day. As per India Today, in a proclamation issued on August 1, the governor recognised the Indian community for its contributions to the state and encouraged everyone to celebrate the day.
Boston Mayor Michelle Wu also declared August 15 as India Day in the city. She welcomed the opening of the new Indian Consulate in Boston. Also, the INS Sudarshini will be visiting the city during the SAILBOSTON-250 event. This will make the celebrations even more memorable for the Indian community.

79th Anniversary Of India’s Independence
On August 15, India will celebrate the 79th anniversary of its Independence. India Today reported that according to the governor, this day marks a major milestone. The governor also appreciated Indian community groups and local supporters for bringing people together. Every year, they organise Independence Day celebrations and community service activities that help people learn about Indian culture, connect with each other and take part in community events.
Governor Healey also appreciated the Indian-American community in Massachusetts for everything they have contributed to the state.
