Nepal Travel Alert: Heavy Rain, Lightning And Strong Winds Forecast From September 25–27

During the rainy season, it becomes difficult to travel in mountainous areas, putting your safety at risk. Nepal is one such hilly country, and if you’re planning a trip, you need to be cautious, as the country may experience rapid weather changes. For tourists’ safety, the Nepal Tourism Board has issued a travel advisory. Scroll down to know the details! 

Nepal Issues Travel Advisory For Tourists

Nepal Tourism Board took to its social media handle to warn tourists about the upcoming weather change. Some parts of the Nepal will experience heavy rainfall from September 25 to 27, 2026. According to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, Gandaki and Lumbini provinces could also see heavy rainfall with thunderstorms, lightning and strong winds.

Also, parts of eastern Koshi, southern Madhesh, central Bagmati, western Sudurpashchim provinces and western Karnali will receive extreme rainfall. According to the advisory, if you’re planning to visit mountainous and high-altitude areas near river basins, be cautious about the rapidly changing weather conditions. There are also chances of snowfall.

What Are Tourists Advised To Do?

To avoid any danger, the officials have advised tourists to keep checking the weather forecasts. Make sure you avoid trekking, mountaineering and other outdoor activities amid dangerous weather. 

Tourists should follow instructions from local authorities, security agencies, tourism professionals and other officials. The Nepal Tourism Board has also asked tourists to move to safer locations in advance when weather conditions and advice from tour operators indicate a possible risk.
