PM Christopher Luxon attended the annual New Zealand Sikh Games in Takanini, Auckland, with local MP Rima Nakhle. During the opening ceremony, Luxon met participants, interacted with volunteers, and explored different sections of the venue. But one such interaction has impressed the internet. What surprised everyone was how confidently he tried making jalebis.

He stepped behind a large wok of hot oil and attempted to make traditional Indian jalebis. Spectators watched with curiosity and excitement as he slowly poured the batter into the oil, smiling as he tried to get the iconic spiral shape right. Many people captured the scene on their phones, and the clip quickly made its way online. He even shared the video on Instagram with the caption, “Getting amongst it at the Sikh Games in Takanini this afternoon with local MP @rimanakhlenz. Good luck to all those competing — and to those who end up eating my attempt at making jalebi!”
