And guess who won this annual championship, which is often called the World Cup of tiramisu?

And The Best Tiramisu Award In The World Goes To…

At the recent World Tiramisu Championship, organised in Rome, pastry chefs from around the world came together. At this competition, they showcased their skills with mascarpone, coffee, and beyond imagination creativity. And the winner? A Japanese chef who wowed everyone with her delectable cherry-themed tiramisu, reported Italian Ismo.

The candidate who put Japan on the map for the best tiramisu is Aya Okada from Ishikawa, Japan. At just 29, she presented a tiramisu shaped like a grand piano, blending flavours of maraschino and amarena cherries with the famous dessert. Her innovative dish was a perfect blend of classic flavours with an innovative twist, which won the hearts of the judges.

Other Participants In The Competition

Followed by Japan, Italy came second in the championship. According to Italian Ismo, Italy’s Milena Russo from Capo d’Orlando presented “Amor Misù”. This was unique, flavoured with Bulgarian rose, coffee, raspberry, and a hint of pink peppercorns. Her dessert also had savoiardi biscuits with rosemary and lemon, adding a surprise burst of flavours to the dessert.

Third place was claimed by Simon Loutid from Morocco. His dessert, “Nostalgia of a Boy,” was inspired by African aromas. It perfectly combined bissap flower, vanilla, and hibiscus. The other countries to participate were Australia, China, Colombia, France, Mexico, Peru, and Senegal. Each chef had just two hours to prepare two recipes: one sticking closely to traditional and another showcasing their own creative spin. The compulsory ingredients were fresh mascarpone and coffee. The winners were decided based on the average scores of both their presentations, with emphasis on skill, creativity, and taste.
