However, the Oman’s Ministry of Heritage and Tourism has now issued an important call for all adventure tourism companies, operators and participants. They must strictly follow the established safety guidelines.
Oman Tightens Adventure Tourism Law
As revealed in a report of the Times of India, an Indian daily, the message by the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism of Oman comes as the adventure-oriented travel continues to grow. Since it is attracting both residents and global visitors, the ministry mentions that adherence to the guardian isn’t an option. It is legally required to follow these guidelines, and those who fail to comply might even have to face legal consequences. Yes, after all, this comes under the sultanate’s law that governs tourism and environmental protection.
Rules For Operators To Follow
But what are the rules for the operators? Well, the ministry recently notified about several rules that the tourism service providers must follow. These are as follows:
- Written Approvals Before Activity
The operators must have a written permission that has been secured in advance from the relevant authorities before they can run any adventure tourism activity. Regardless of whether it’s on private land or government property. - Inspection And Approval For Equipment
Before any safety or adventure equipment is installed, the installation must be inspected and approved by the appropriate government bodies. These include, but are not limited to ropes, zip line fixtures, and climbing gear. - No Tampering With Existing Equipment
The existing equipment cannot be altered, damaged, or tampered with. After all, it could compromise the safety of future visitors.

Following The Rules Aren’t An Option, But A Must
Since every adventure comes with a risk, so the ministry has clearly mentioned in its announcement that execution must be done according to the current tourism laws of Oman. The safety protocols are not just bureaucratic procedures. They have been designed in such a way that it protects life and can prevent any avoidable accident.
This comes at a time when Oman has been positioning itself as a world-class tourism destination. Yes, especially during winters, due to mild weather, people are encouraged to explore the outside. So, the government is actively taking efforts to include promotional campaigns. They’re also supporting licensed companies and enhancing their regulatory framework so that the country’s natural and cultural heritage can be safeguarded.
