Air travel is often known for making journeys comfortable and quicker for passengers, but sometimes unexpected incidents leave them shaken. On Wednesday, September 24, one such horrifying incident took place at Indore’s Devi Ahilyabai Holkar Airport, where a software engineer waiting for his flight was bitten by a rat. Software Engineer Bit By A Rat At Indore Airport
The recent incident at Indore Airport has raised serious concerns among passengers. According to The Times of India, 33-year-old software engineer Arun Modi was resting on a recliner with his wife when a rat crawled into his pants and bit him near the knee. Shocked, the couple shouted for help, drawing the attention of fellow travellers and airport staff.
For treatment, Arun was rushed to the medical room, but it was not equipped to handle the emergency properly. The passenger further claimed that the medical staff seemed unprepared to provide timely care. Though preliminary treatment was given, Arun insisted on receiving a tetanus injection, which was eventually administered. He later received proper treatment once he reached Bengaluru.

Inefficient Pest Control At The Airport
This shocking incident at Indore Airport was later confirmed by airport director V.K. Seth to TOI. He also revealed that a penalty had been imposed on the pest control agency responsible for maintaining cleanliness on the premises. He further stated that the last pest control at the airport was carried out on September 15.
As for the treatment, the airport doctor administered an injection and prescribed antibiotic tablets to the passenger. However, based on his complaint about inadequate treatment, officials have sought an explanation from the doctor on duty. The disturbing incident at the airport has raised safety concerns among passengers. Many questioned how rats could move freely inside an international airport. At a time when cleanliness campaigns are being promoted, this type of negligence highlights the urgent need for stronger efforts.

The recent incident followed just weeks after two newborn girls tragically died at MY Hospital after being bitten by rats in the ICU on August 31 and September 1. Also, just a few days back, an IndiGo flight was cancelled when a passenger spotted a rat in the cabin.
