South Korea Launches Workation Visa For Remote Workers

The F-1-D Visa, also called the Workation Visa, has now been officially launched by South Korea following a trial period. The visa comes with a longer permitted stay and lower income thresholds for some applicants. According to The Economic Times, the visa allows foreign nationals employed by overseas companies or those who own foreign businesses to live in South Korea while working remotely. However, individuals working for Korean companies cannot apply for this visa.

Applicants aged 18-34 who plan to live outside Seoul, Incheon and Gyeonggi Province will need to show income equivalent to one year’s GNI per capita. You should know that South Korea’s GNI per capita was $36,963 in 2025. Compared to the pilot programme, the maximum permitted stay has also been extended from two years to three years. And yes, the visa also allows multiple entries throughout that period.
