Visa-Free Entry To Malaysia? Indians Warned Against Using It To Look For Or Take Up Jobs

The Indian High Commission in Kuala Lumpur has now warned Indian citizens not to misuse the 30-day visa-free entry in Malaysia to look for or take up jobs. The advisory also flags fake agent promises and the risk of detention. Here’s what you need to know about this.

Indians Warned Against Misusing Visa-Free Entry In Malaysia

There is a significant increase in Indian citizens arriving in Malaysia using the 30-day visa-free entry to seek employment. The official X account of the High Commission of India, Kuala Lumpur, has now issued a strict warning against the misuse of the tourist visa.

According to them, many Indian nationals are promised false jobs by agents, which can lead to overstaying, illegal status, exploitation, detention and legal action. And yes, this is a clear violation of immigration rules, as the visa-free entry facility only permits Indian passport holders to stay in Malaysia for up to 30 days for tourism and social visits only.

Tourists Must Carry Valid Documents For Malaysia

The authorities also mentioned that genuine tourists must carry valid and verifiable documentation with them on their holiday. This includes a confirmed return ticket, hotel booking and online submission of the Malaysia Digital Arrival Card (MDAC) three days before the arrival date. The tourists should also have a passport with a minimum six-month validity. This is important to avoid any immigration-related issues on arrival in Malaysia.

At the end of the advisory, the High Commission of India also mentioned that visitors who do not have an employment purpose, a work permit or a visa with reference are strictly advised not to travel to Malaysia to look for a job.
