Noida-style New Agra planned along Yamuna Expressway
As per a report by NDTV, the projects aim to create modern residential townships with world-class infrastructure capable of accommodating lakhs of residents. The proposed New Agra Urban Centre will be constructed along the Yamuna Expressway between Greater Noida and Agra, at the intersection where the expressway ends within the Agra district. Around 14,480 hectares of land across 44 villages has been designated for the project, making the proposed city nearly half the size of Noida.
The Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) will construct the township as part of its Master Plan 2041. Much like Noida and Greater Noida, the city will be separated into three zones for planned development. According to the report, the township itself is expected to accommodate around 1.4 million residents, with nearly 1.4 million homes proposed, including affordable housing priced at around ₹ 14 lakh.

To strengthen tourism, the city will feature a large theme park and entertainment hubs, budget hotels, as well as luxury five-star and seven-star hotels. It is also anticipated to attract major industrial investments, logistics facilities and tourism-related businesses, creating nearly 1 million jobs, the report added. Connectivity is a major focus of the project. New Agra will be located around 120 km from Noida International Airport in Jewar. A proposed Namo Bharat Rapid Rail Transit System (RRTS) corridor is expected to connect the airport with Agra, significantly reducing travel time.
Greater Agra Project Also In Progress
Alongside New Agra, the Agra Development Authority (ADA) is also developing another township project called Greater Agra, which will spread across 449 hectares in Raipur and Rahankalan within Agra city.
Designed as a smart township, Greater Agra will be divided into 10 sectors and will become the first area in Agra to feature underground power cabling, along with a continuous electricity and water supply. Main roads will be 45 to 60 metres wide, while internal roads will range from 9 to 12 metres.
