Zohran Mamdani’s 1st Day As NYC Mayor Started With Chai & Momos At THIS Nepalese Eatery

Zohran Mamdani

At just 34, Zohran Mamdani has made history by becoming the first South Asian and the youngest mayor in a century to lead New York City, the largest city in the United States. And for his first day as the mayor-elect, he enjoyed a delicious and comforting meal at a Nepalese restaurant in Jackson Heights, Queens.

Zohran Mamdani Enjoys Chai & Momos At Nepalese Restaurant

After securing victory in the New York mayoral race, Zohran Mamdani decided to celebrate in the most relatable way possible—with a comforting meal. A day after his win, he devoured momos, chilli chicken, tingmo bread, aloo dum, and chai at a popular Nepalese eatery–Laliguras Restaurant. After all, simple pleasures make the best celebrations.

He started his first day as the mayor-elect of New York City with “early morning interviews, transition announcements, and meetings.” Between all this, he said that the highlight of his day was the lunch we grabbed with Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez at Laliguras Restaurant in Jackson Heights. According to Alexandria, the place had “some of the best momos Jackson Heights has to offer.”
