UAE Gets The World’s First Single-Letter Govt Domain

The Dubai government has launched a new domain to be part of its official portal. The highlight of this name is that it is composed of a single alphabet (U). The new domain allows residents to access the country’s laws, strategies, services, new projects and much more.

What’s It?

Dubai’s government portal now has a single-letter domain- U. The portal is a comprehensive platform which provides information about the country’s policies, laws, education, economy, business, infrastructure, residency regulations, health, upcoming projects, strategies and much more. This is the first time in the world that a single letter domain has been launched.

Commenting on the new domain name, H.E. Hamad Obaid Al Mansoori, TRA Director General, said: ‘The new domain name of the UAE Government portal embodies the meaning of innovation, which is simple and easy to remember. It also reflects the centrality of the people in the government’s concerns with its various projects, programs and plans.

Apart from providing information about the facts and figures of the UAE government, the portal also has an interactive platform which contains forum, blogs, surveys, polls, Chatbot and links to mGovernment pages on social media.

That’s not all! The portal also boasts a new logo which reflects leadership, unity, people happiness, and authenticity.

What Else?

A study conducted by Edelman Trust Barometer, ranked the UAE government as the second most trusted in the world. China stood first while Indonesia grabbed the third spot.

Overall, UAE enjoys a steady hike (by 9 points) in the Trust Index from 2012 to 2018. Take a look at the complete report here.
