UAE Has Approved A New Sinopharm COVID-19 Vaccine For Emergency Use & Here’s Everything To Know!

The United Arab Emirates’ health ministry announced this week that the protein-based COVID-19 vaccine developed by Sinopharm has been certified for emergency use and will be accessible to the public as a booster dose starting in January 2022. The recombinant protein-based vaccination was approved by the Ministry of Health and Prevention this week, ahead of a scheduled rollout next month.

What Is The Sinopharm Vaccine?

The Sinopharm CNBG recombinant protein-based vaccine contains a S protein that surrounds the COVID-19 virus and aids the body’s recognition and defence against the virus in the event of infection. Several versions will be prevented thanks to the technology. Although the Sinopharm CNBG recombinant protein-based vaccine, as well as the other inactivated Sinopharm vaccines, are efficient in generating antibodies, the novel protein-based vaccination may provide broader protection and hence be more effective against variations. Other vaccinations, such as the hepatitis B vaccine, have been developed using this method.

According to NCEMA, the side effects are comparable to those of other vaccines, including headaches, soreness in the vaccinated area, tiredness, and maybe a fever.

Eligibility Criteria For The Vaccine?

The Sinopharm CNBG recombinant protein-based vaccination, according to NCEMA, can be given as a booster shot six months after receiving the Sinopharm vaccine to anyone over the age of 18. Individuals who are allergic to any of the vaccine components are exempted after passing medical assessments. Pregnant women, nursing moms, and those expecting a pregnancy within the next six months are exempt from the vaccine, but they are allowed to receive other types of approved immunizations. Authorities are recommending that everyone obtain a booster shot from NCEMA.
