Ajman and Sharjah have banned shops from selling, displaying, or distributing Zamzam water. Yes, commercial establishments have been prohibited from these activities after inspections carried out detected fraudulent activities. This comes after Hajj 2025 recently concluded in Saudi Arabia.
Sharjan Bans Selling Of Zamzam Water
After Sharjah, Ajman Municipality has also banned its shops from displaying, distributing, and selling Zamzam water. Moreover, the public has also been advised not to buy from such stores. This comes after Sharjah also made a similar move a few days ago that banned shops from such activities.
The ban comes in light of inspections that were carried out by the Sharjah Municipality. Inspections revealed that Zamzam water was difficult to differentiate from normal water. And therefore, there was a high chance of people getting fooled by frauds selling normal water as Zamzam water
What Is Zamzam Water?
In case you’re wondering, this is holy water that comes from the Zamzam well, which is located in the Grand Mosque of Mecca. Situated near the Kaaba, Muslims regard this water as a healing remedy for ailments. Not to mention, Zamzam Well has today become a destination for Muslims from all around the world who visit the mosque performing Hajj and Umrah.
So, the next question that arises is, where can people get Zamzam water from? Well, they can get it from approved distribution points in Saudi Arabia. These approved distribution points are as follows:
- Zamzam Water Supply Project – Makkah
- King Abdulaziz International Airport – Jeddah
- Prince Mohammed bin Abdulaziz International Airport – Madinah
- Taif International Airport
- Nusuk Platform (online portal) for Hajj Campaigns

Ajman Also Previously Banned The Sale
Pilgrims can then ship this water to their home country and make sure to place it in designated shipping boxes, which are separate from personal luggage. Moreover, they must also take care that the water bottle is sealed and specifically designed for air shipping. Each pilgrim is allowed to carry one bottle free of charge with a maximum of 5 litres per person.
In fact, it was just last month when a man was caught selling tank water, as Zamzam water in Sharjah. Since then, a lot of strictness has been maintained in both the emirates for the protection of the people’s faith and trust.
