According to the United Nations Environment Programme report, Moradabad in Uttar Pradesh is the second noisiest city in the world. The top ranked in the list is the capital city of Bangladesh, Dhaka. The third on the list is Pakistan’s Islamabad. Rajshahi in Bangladesh bears the fourth rank on the list. Kolkata and Asansol in India are the fourteenth and fifteenth noisiest cities in the world.

Three Indian Cities In UN’s Top 15 Noisest Cities List
As per the World Health Organisation ( WHO), the permissible noise limits should be 55 decibels for outdoor residential spaces and 70 decibels for commercial spaces with traffic. But the noise levels in Dhaka are found to be 119 decibels. In Moradabad, Islamabad and Rajshahi, the noise levels are found to be 114 decibels, 105 decibels and 103 decibels. Kolkata and Asansol, both of which are in India’s West Bengal region, have recorded noise levels of 89 decibels. Delhi has recorded noise levels of 83 decibels.
