Among them, many American citizens are currently visiting India as well. For all the Americans in India, the US State Department updated its travel advisory and specified several guidelines to follow while planning to explore the country. Recently, The US Revised Travel Advisory For Americans In India
The Department of State of the US government released a new set of inputs and travel-related guidance for its citizens. According to information shared by Travel.gov, the updated advisory asked Americans in India to exercise increased caution because of crime and terrorism. It further added that several areas have noticed a rise in risk.
The US also urged its nationals to avoid visiting a few places in India. Citing terrorism and civil unrest, the government asked Americans to not travel to Jammu and Kashmir (except for the eastern Ladakh region and Leh). The advisory for Americans in India also advised US citizens to not travel “Within 10 km of the India-Pakistan border due to the potential for armed conflict.”
Updating the travel advisory, the US State Department highlighted that Americans should not visit parts of Central and East India because of terrorism concerns. It also asked its nationals to avoid visiting Manipur citing crime and violence as risky reasons. The US has placed India at Level 2 and highlighted “Exercise Increased Caution”. However, the above-mentioned regions in India have been added to Level 4.
Updates About Northeastern States
The travel advisory for Americans in India urged its citizens to consider their travel plans to visit the Northeastern states of India. Also, these states have been placed at “Level 3: Reconsider Travel.” Violent acts such as bombings of buses, trains, rail lines, and markets are occasionally committed by ethnic insurgent groups, added the advisory. It further mentioned that no recent reports state updates on violence in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim, and Tripura.
