USA: Explosion At Historic Fort Worth Hotel In Texas Injuries 21 & Scatters Debris

In an unfortunate incident, the 20-storey Sandman Signature hotel in Fort Worth, Texas faced an explosion. At least two floors of this high-rise hotel were destroyed, injuring over 21 people in downtown Fort Worth. The Police suspect that this explosion occurred due to a natural gas leak. Explosion At Historic Sandman Signature Hotel In Fort Worth, Texas

An explosion blew out at least two floors of the historic Sandman Signature hotel in Texas. The explosion was reported at around 3:30 pm on Monday afternoon. As the smell of natural gas persists, a two-block area has been blocked off by the officials. As the Fort Worth Fire Department conducts the investigation, it comes to light that there was an ongoing construction in the building where the gas leak occurred.

Craig Trojacek with the Fort Worth Fire Department revealed to NBC 5 Dallas-Fort Worth that there is still gas smell in downtown. Furthermore, he states that they aren’t sure about the cause of the gas smell. They are looking into the fact whether the gas smell was caused due to the fire itself or the explosion that occurred. Trojacek further added to the media agency that over 26 rooms were occupied at the historic hotel at the time of the explosion. The rescue team conducted a search at around 5:30 pm and no additional victims were found.

Blast Leaves 21 People Injured

The report by NBC 5 Dallas-Fort Worth further states that the number of people injured in the blast increased from 11 to 21. Fortunately, a person who was reported missing was also found. MedStar Ambulance’s Matt Zavadsky stated few of the 20 people were treated at the scene, others were taken to nearby hospitals. While 14 people are in minor conditions, one person is critical. Meanwhile, search and rescue operations will continue to ensure no person is trapped in the hotel. There are no fatalities reported from the historic Fort Worth hotel explosion.

Sandman Signature Fort Worth Downtown Hotel was established in 1920 and boasts of 245 luxurious rooms. Listed in the National Register of Historic Places since 1979, it’s popularly called the Waggoner Building.
