“We are speechless and deeply humbled by this honour.” This is how Vikas Khanna announced on Instagram that he has been shortlisted for Best Chef: New York State. The announcement was made by the James Beard Foundation for the 2026 awards. These awards recognise chefs, restaurateurs, authors, and journalists in the United States every year. Moreover, being shortlisted itself is a big deal, and Vikas Khanna clearly knows the importance of this moment.

People often call the James Beard Awards the ‘Oscars of the culinary world.’ Chefs and restaurants consider them one of the highest honours in the culinary world.
