Google Maps Launches ‘Ask Maps’ In India
Google Maps has already rolled out a new AI feature called “Ask Maps”. You know what makes this feature interesting? As per NDTV, it helps you explore places through simple, natural conversations. This new feature is available in both India and the United States and has already been declared one of the biggest updates of the decade.
How does this feature work? Instead of typing queries every time, travellers can now ask detailed questions. The tool uses data from more than 300 million places and insights shared by over 500 million contributors worldwide. This feature brings together reviews, photos, traffic updates, and Popular Times data to give personalised suggestions. This means now, instead of searching “restaurants near me,” you can ask something more specific. You can describe your mood, preferences, and timing, and the AI will respond accordingly.

More About This New Feature
Once you ask a question, the feature will show you customised options with relevant places, suggest routes, and give estimated travel time. NDTV reported that it also offers quick options to start navigation, save locations, or share plans with others. You can even ask follow-up questions without starting over, which makes planning smoother.
Where can you find this feature? You first have to update your Google Maps app and sign in to your account. Then tap the new “Ask Maps” button below the search bar. A chat-style interface will open, where you can type or speak your query. Right now, “Ask Maps” is available in English on Android and iOS devices in India and the United States. Google has also shared that more languages and regions will be added soon.
