The United States is all set to roll out a limited-edition passport design that is getting both attention and controversy. Branded as the “Patriot Passport”, the mock photo was shared by the official page of the White House. As per a report by Times Now, the new initiative, confirmed by the US State Department, is tied to the USA’s 250th anniversary of independence, which will be celebrated in July. The officials described the Patriot passport as a celebrated edition rather than a replacement for the actual travel documents.

It is a limited variation of the standard US passport, which is made to mark a historic national milestone. As per the State Department spokesperson Tommy Pigott, the department will be releasing a limited number of specially designed US passports to celebrate this historic occasion. The passports are all set to release this summer as part of the Trump administration’s broader America 250 celebration, which also features a Grand Prix race on the National Mall in August and a UFC fight on the White House South Lawn in June.

What makes the Patriot Passport different is the addition of a large image of President Donald Trump, a unique approach that has not been done before in US passport design. Traditionally, US passports have always avoided featuring political figures and instead focused on historical imagery, national symbols, and landmarks. Not only this, but the White House has framed the initiative as part of a bigger effort to promote national pride during the semiquincentennial celebration. As per the reports, spokesperson Olivia Wales said the design reflects another great way Americans can join in the celebrations for America’s 250th birthday.

The mock image of the passport shows Trump’s image surrounded by the text of the Declaration of Independence and the American flag, along with the president’s signature in gold. Another page includes the famous painting of the Founding Fathers at the signing of the Declaration of Independence.
