No Calls, No Messages, No Meeting! Kapil Kanpuriya Reveals How He Married His Wife

We met Kanpur’s most loved content creator, Kapil Kanpuriya, for this special edition of Tere Gully Mein. This episode was packed with mouth-watering street snacks, from chole bhature and samosas to Thaggu ke Ladoo and, of course, Banarasi Tea Stall’s famous malai wali chai. Kapil opened up like never before and even shared the story of how he got married. And trust us, it’s a story you will be surprised to know!

Kapil Kanpuriya Shares How He Married His Wife 

This Tere Gully Mein episode wasn’t just about exploring the vibrant streets of Kanpur but also about getting to know Kapil better. He’s known for his relatable content, his signature Kanpuriya accent and the way he captures daily life with humour. Kapil also posts many funny ‘couple reels’ with his wife, which always garners many likes and views on social media. But do you know about their love story? While walking along the Ganga Bairaj, Kapil shared how he got married.

Back when he was working in Delhi, his mother casually asked if he had a girlfriend. When he said no, she told him to come to Kanpur to meet a girl for an arranged marriage. Kapil refused to travel but gave his mother the freedom to choose a girl for him. He laughed as he recalled, “Unhone serious le liya aur phir mere paas WhatsApp card aaya, parso tilak hai aur 15 din baad shaadi hai” (She took it seriously and then I got an invitation card on WhatsApp saying the tilak is the day after tomorrow and the wedding is in 15 days). He revealed that he hadn’t even met or spoken to his wife before the wedding functions.

A Marriage Without A Call Or Meeting

This was definitely surprising. He got married in 2016, in today’s day and age, without a single call or meeting beforehand. But as the couple now share a strong bond, it’s clear that it was the right decision for him. Kapil also shared that in Delhi, he was never keen on relationships. He was focused on work, saving money, and returning to Kanpur for good. For him, family always comes first.

The day was full of laughter, food and heartfelt moments. We then played a round of  ‘This or That’, talked about the major turning point in his life, and spoke about his upcoming projects before finally wrapping up.
