Noida Plans 10-Lane Corridor Between Delhi & Jewar To Ease Traffic; All You Need To Know

Authorities in Noida are planning something big. Ahead of the launch of Noida International Airport, they are planning a 10-lane Delhi-Jewar Corridor to reduce traffic pressure on the Noida-Greater Noida Expressway and improve connectivity. Here’s everything we know about this project so far.

Noida Plans 10-Lane Delhi-Jewar Corridor

A new 10-lane Delhi-Jewar Corridor is now being planned to reduce traffic on the Noida-Greater Noida Expressway and provide an alternative route from Delhi to Jewar. This would make it easier for commuters to reach the new Noida International Airport, which is set to launch soon. According to NDTV, the embankment road along the Yamuna River will be widened and developed into a 10-lane bypass.

The route will start from Sector 94 and extend up to Gharbara village in Greater Noida. There, it will merge with the Yamuna Expressway. Currently, the road has four lanes, but it will first expand to six lanes and then finally to 10 lanes to meet rising traffic requirements.

Corridor Expected To Ease Traffic

According to NDTV, the Delhi-Jewar Corridor will also link with the Chilla Elevated Road corridor. This 5.9-km-long Chilla Elevated Road, which is being built from Mayur Vihar to Mahamaya Flyover, is expected to be completed by December 2027. Additionally, authorities are also planning a 1.4-km elevated link road from Mahamaya Flyover to Okhla Bird Sanctuary Metro Station. This route will allow traffic from Delhi to directly access the embankment road without entering the expressway.

The Delhi-Jewar Corridor is being considered necessary because traffic load is expected to increase once the Noida International Airport becomes operational. Authorities will soon prepare a feasibility report followed by a Detailed Project Report (DPR). The whole cost of this project will be paid jointly by Noida, Greater Noida and Yamuna authorities.
