The Sant Ravidas Express, a Sleeper Vande Bharat train, will be flagged off by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on July 17. Here’s everything you need to know about it.

Sant Ravidas Express To Connect Amritsar & Varanasi

According to Business Today, PM Narendra Modi will virtually flag off India’s second Sleeper Vande Bharat Express on July 17 from Jalandhar. Named the Sant Ravidas Express, the train will connect Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh with Chheharta, near Amritsar in Punjab.

The new service is expected to make overnight travel between Punjab and eastern Uttar Pradesh faster and more convenient. It will especially benefit pilgrims, including members of the Ravidasi community, who frequently travel to Varanasi. Running on the shortest rail route between the two cities, the train is also expected to boost religious tourism and improve overall connectivity.

Route, Stoppages & More

As per reports, Sant Ravidas Express will run three times a week in each direction. Train No. 14624 (Chheharta-Varanasi) will depart every Wednesday, Friday and Sunday. On the return leg, Train No. 14623 (Varanasi-Chheharta) will depart every Thursday, Saturday and Monday.

The express train will halt at Jaunpur City, Sultanpur, Lucknow, Shahjahanpur, Bareilly, Moradabad, Saharanpur, Ambala Cantt, Ludhiana, Jalandhar City and Amritsar.

The Sant Ravidas Express will depart Chheharta at 2:05 PM, stop at Amritsar at 2:25 PM, reach Lucknow at 7:30 AM the next day, and arrive in Varanasi at 12:15 PM. On the return journey, the train will leave Varanasi at 7:05 PM, arrive in Lucknow at 12:10 AM, reach Amritsar at 4:35 PM, and terminate at Chheharta at 5:10 PM.
