A Partner For Royal Bachelors: Lioness Sudha To Arrive For Simba & Sultan Of Etawah Safari Park

For nearly one and a half years, the authorities of Etawah Safari Park have been looking for a suitable partner for their star Asiatic lions, Simba and Sultan. Now, the wait is finally over. The management will bring a lioness named Sudha from Rohtak Zoo in Haryana as a partner for these royal bachelors.

Lions Of Etawah Safari Park To Have A Partner Soon

The search for a partner for two Asiatic lions at Etawah Safari Park in Uttar Pradesh is now over, as a lioness named Sudha has been selected from Rohtak Zoo in Haryana to be their mate. The lioness will be brought to the safari park soon. According to The New Indian Express, Simba and Sultan were born to lion Manan and lioness Jessica in October 2016.

Over the years, the two lion brothers have grown into the main attraction of the safari, drawing many visitors with their majestic aura. Now, these lions are fully grown, and authorities plan to focus on their families and expanding their lineage. Apparently, the lionesses already present in the safari park are siblings of Simba and Sultan. This makes breeding impossible within the park. This situation forced the authorities to look beyond their territory.

Lioness Sudha To Arrive In Safari Park

According to The New Indian Express, bringing a new lioness to Etawah Safari Park is important to ensure the next generation of Asiatic lions in the park. Sudha will soon be brought to Etawah, and in exchange, a male lion named Vishwa, born at the safari on World Lion Day in 2022, will be sent to Rohtak, Haryana. Reportedly, Sudha has delivered cubs twice earlier. This has raised optimism among the authorities. They believe that she will be able to breed successfully in Etawah Safari Park as well.

However, before finalising the move, her health will be checked properly, with samples to be tested at IVRI Bareilly and NCBS Bengaluru. The transfer process will be completed only after approval from the Central Zoo Authority in Delhi. The management is also in touch with Sakkarbaug Zoo in Gujarat and Rajgir Zoo in Bihar to explore more options.
