Switzerland was the latest country to welcome fully vaccinated international visitors starting from the UAE. And now, there’s another scenic destination Indian and UAE travellers can add to their travel bucket this summer. Starting 15 July, fully vaccinated Indian and UAE residents can travel to Mauritius. All tourists will be permitted to enter the tropical paradise, provided they have taken both doses of vaccination at least three weeks before arriving in Mauritius. Meanwhile, vaccinated UAE residents can travel quarantine free to 19 other countries this summer.
What Vaccines Are Accepted In Mauritius?
All vaccines authorised by WHO are recognized by Mauritius authorities. These include vaccines for emergency use. Travellers who have received both doses of Pfizer-Biontech, Moderna, Astra-Zeneca, Jansen/Johnson&Johnson, Covishield Sinovac or Sinopharm jabs will be eligible to enter Mauritius.
Can Unvaccinated Travellers Enter Mauritius?
Unvaccinated travellers will not be permitted to enter Mauritius yet. However, children under 18 do not need to be vaccinated to travel to the island nation. But, they will be required to undergo PCR testing.
What Are The Rules For Vaccinated Tourists Arriving In Mauritius?
To begin with, all travellers must book accommodation in one of the approved hotels. This list of approved hotels will be available here from Sunday, June 20. They must remain in their room until they receive the results of the on-arrival PCR test. This will typically take six to 12 hours.
Tourists will have access to all hotel facilities including beaches, swimming pools, water sports and golf courses. However, spa facilities will remain closed during the first phase of reopening. All travellers must take another PCR test on the fifth, sixth or seventh day after arrival. Those staying for less than 14 days will not be permitted to leave their hotel premises, unless they are travelling back to their home country.
Travellers who are spending more than two weeks in the island are free to roam around, provided they test negative on day 14. Tourists are not required to abide to any minimum stay, and must have a valid travel insurance which covers Covid-19 treatment for the entire duration of their trip.

When Will The Second Phase Of Reopening Kick Off?
The second phase of reopening will be in October. During this phase vaccinated tourists can roam freely in the island nation without waiting for 14 days. Besides, vaccinated tourists will be permitted to enter the country with just one PCR test taken within 72 hours of departure.
When Can Unvaccinated Tourists Enter Mauritius?
Unvaccinated tourists will also be able to enter Mauritius from October. However, they must quarantine for 14 days in a hotel, at their own expense. During this time, travellers will have no access to hotel facilities.
Which Airlines Are Operating Flights To Mauritius?
Air Mauritius has services from Dubai to Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam International Airport. Ticket prices start from AED 2,800. Besides, Emirates offers weekly service to the island nation. And the good part is- Mauritius is listed on Abu Dhabi’s Green List. This means, UAE residents and nationals need not quarantine on returning to the UAE.
