Indian Railways is a major transportation system in the country, offering a variety of trains for travellers. Two trains that have gained popularity are Vande Bharat Express and Amrit Bharat Express. Vande Bharat Express: Route & Cost
Vande Bharat Express is a semi-high-speed train that has become one of the most popular trains in India. This train has around 40 routes in India. Some special trains are operated during the festive season and in winter due to high demand.
In South India, Vande Bharat Express covers 15 routes with ticket prices ranging between ₹1100 and ₹3200. In North India, the train covers 11 routes with ticket prices ranging between ₹900 and ₹3300. In West India, the train covers 9 routes with ticket prices ranging between ₹1000 and ₹3150. In East India, the train covers 15 routes with ticket prices ranging between ₹600 and ₹3100. In Central India, the train covers 3 routes with ticket prices ranging between ₹800 and ₹2300.
Amrit Bharat Express: Route & Cost
Amrit Bharat Express is a newer train as it was started in December 2023. But it opened to the public in January 2024. This train is expected to revolutionise train travel for common people who travel by non-AC coaches. The Ministry of Railways plans to expand the fleet of Amrit Bharat Express trains by 26 trains for the fiscal year 2023-24.
Currently, there are 4 Amrit Bharat Express trains from Delhi to Darbhanga, Bengaluru to Malda, and Darbhanga to Delhi, Malda to Bengaluru. The ticket price range is set according to the distance. For second-class base fare, distance slabs from 1 km to 2000 km cost from ₹35 to ₹518 while from 2951 km to 5000 km cost ₹653 to ₹933. For sleeper class, base fare from 1 km to 2000 km costs from ₹46 to ₹842, while from 2951 km to 5000 km costs ₹1052 to ₹1469.

Vande Bharat Express Vs. Amrit Bharat Express
Vande Bharat Express and Amrit Bharat Express may look similar but are significantly different from each other. Firstly, because of the locomotive. Amrit Bharat Express has an aerodynamic WAP-5 locomotive, while the other has none. Amrit Bharat Express is a non-AC sleeper and unreserved class service, while the Vande Bharat Express is an AC chair car train with an upgraded executive chair car section.
Vande Bharat Express covers medium distances under 10 hours during the daytime, while the other covers long journeys over 10 hours. Amrit Bharat Express is a high-speed train, while the other is a semi-high-speed train. In terms of price range, Amrit Bharat Express is cheaper than Vande Bharat Express. Vande Bharat Express is connected across India via various routes, while Amrit Bharat Express is currently working on only two routes. Finally, Vande Bharat Express provides additional amenities like food, footrests, WiFi, and more, while Amrit Bharat Express doesn’t.
