Vande Bharat was a necessary initiative to turn the outlook towards Indian Railways. A new semi-high-speed train that can cover any distance more efficiently and in less time. However, this hasn’t turned out the way it should have. Recently, there have been cases of stone pelting on this new train. And among them is the new South Indian Vande Bharat train. Here are the details of the incident that took place at Vishakhapatnam Railway station.
Vande Bharat Attacked At Vishakhapatnam
Prime Minister Narendra Modi was going to inaugurate this new Vande Bharat Express on the January 19, 2023. It’s going to cover the distance between Vishakhapatnam and Secunderabad, with Rajahmundry, Khammam, Vijaywada, and Warangal as halting stops in this journey. Before that, it was supposed to go on a trial run from Vishakhapatnam Railway Station. This unfortunate incident took place at the same venue. Some mischievous and unidentified people hurled stones at two empty coaches, and their windows broke. Moreover, this train was supposed to go to a coach maintenance centre before its inauguration. Railway Protection Force has registered a case under IPC section 154 Railway Act and started their investigation, but the offenders are still unidentified.
Not A First
In addition to this case, there were other incidents of stone pelting in different regions of India. A similar case happened in West Bengal with the New Jalpaiguri-Howrah train. The incident took place just after three days after the inauguration. Immediately after that, a second incident took place in Bihar. However, the first case was of a train that Mr Owaisi was travelling. The train was pelted with stones, though fortunately, no one was harmed.
These incidents are unethical and unlawful. Destroying any government property is equivalent to damaging our own property since the existence of these trains is because of tax-payer money. Incidently, this new generation train has been in the headlines because of its speed and cattle incidents. Mired into controversies Vande Bharat trains can certainly earn the monkier of being a controversial thing to be introduced so far by the government.
