Variable Parking System In Dubai: These Areas Have A Higher Tariff For Parking

It wasn’t too long ago when it was announced that a variable parking tariff would be introduced in Dubai. From Downtown to Diera, some areas are very busy as they are commercial hotspots. And as this parking tariff comes into effect, it’s important to know that instead of a fixed rate, parking fees will now fluctuate on the basis of demand. Yes, you can expect higher charges during peak hours, which is from 8 AM to 10 AM and from 4 PM to 8 PM. However, those for the off-peak hours remain unchanged. Here’s more on this!

With the variable parking tariff, there has also been an introduction of new premium parking spaces. These are marked by white and blue signboards, and they feature parking codes that end with ‘P’. As it happens, it also clearly displays the peak and off-peak timings.

With the implementation of this system, there’s a rise in the fee for the premium parking zones. These are generally located in high-demand areas, and they are identified as the ‘P’ zone code. You can find Premium Parking in the following areas:

  1. Business Bay
  2. Downtown Dubai
  3. Naif
  4. Al Fahidi
  5. Al Wasl
  6. Sheikh Zayed Road
  7. Jumeirah
  8. Al Barsha

Talking about the parking spaces in these areas, as revealed by the Gulf News, these are divided into four zones: A, B, C, and D. The parking spaces have a comprehensive breakdown of fee. These are as follows.

Zone A
Standard Parking (per hour): AED4 (peak and off-peak)
Premium Parking (per hour): AED6 (peak), AED4 (off-peak)

Zone B
Standard Parking: AED4 per hour (peak), AED3 per hour (off-peak)
Premium Parking: AED6 per hour (peak), AED3 per hour (off-peak)

Zone C & Zone D
Standard Parking: AED4 per hour (peak), AED2 per hour (off-peak)
Premium Parking: AED6 per hour (peak), AED2 per hour (off-peak)

However, not all areas fall under the new premium parking classification. Some of these places have their A, B, C, and D zone code. The standard parking zones are in the following areas –

  1. Al Nahda 1 & 2
  2. Al Quoz 1, 2 & 3
  3. Al Rashidiya
  4. Al Mamzar
  5. Abu Hail
  6. Nad Al Hammar
  7. Al Qusais

Grand Event Parking Zones are another category, and they’re temporary parking zones that you need to know of. These are generally introduced during major events, exhibitions, festivals, or even conferences. They are introduced to manage the increased demand for parking spaces.

So, with these parking changes in town, make sure to read the signs properly before parking.
