A Delta Air Lines plane made a crash landing at Toronto Pearson International Airport on Monday afternoon. During the landing, the aircraft flipped upside down on the tarmac with its tail and one wing shorn off. 18 of the 80 people onboard have reportedly sustained injuries and were taken to the nearby hospital for medical assistance.
Delta Plane Crash-Landed At Toronto Airport
According to Hindustan Times, the Delta Air Lines plane 4819, with 76 passengers and four crew members onboard, was coming from Minneapolis’ St. Paul International Airport and was destined to land at the Toronto Pearson International Airport. Unfortunately, the plane crash-landed at the Toronto Airport in Canada on Monday and left 18 persons injured with no casualties.

The cause of the Delta plane’s crash, operated by Endeavor Air, has yet to be determined. According to the latest updates, the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) said that the Transportation Safety Board of Canada will investigate.

Multiple videos and photos circulating on social media show how passengers were evacuated from the aircraft that was resting upside-down on the snow-covered ground. Passengers could be seen stumbling and crawling away from the wreckage to save their lives.
Airline Releases Statement After The Incident
While at least 18 persons are reported to be injured in the Delta Air Lines plane crash at the Toronto Airport, three people are reported to be in critical condition. Thankfully, their injuries are considered not life-threatening. As per the statement released by the Toronto Pearson Fire Department, a team of firefighters immediately rushed to the crash site. They started fire extinguishing and evacuation of people onboard. The emergency responders reported that it was a dry runway and there were no cross-wind conditions.

Talking about the plane crash, Delta CEO Ed Bastian said, “The hearts of the entire global Delta family are with those affected by today’s incident at Toronto-Pearson International Airport. I want to express my thanks to the many Delta and Endeavor team members and the first responders on site. We are working to confirm the details and will share the most current information as soon as it becomes available. In the meantime, please take care and stay safe.”
