According to NEIF’s Chief Organiser, Shyamkanu Mahanta, the Consul General of India, Madan Mohan Sethi, would host the festival’s opening session in its third iteration. The festival will be held from October 27 to October 29, 2023.

According to Mahanta, the festival, which is taking place at 23rd September Park in Vietnam, aims to strengthen commercial, artistic, and cultural connections between Vietnam and India. The Consul General of India said that the festival encompasses a wide range of events, such as sessions on academics, trade, and tourism.

This will make it easier for Vietnam and India to collaborate academically and commercially. In line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Act East Policy, this event represents the joint efforts to build a connection between North East India and Vietnam through trade, tourism, and people-to-people interactions, Sethi remarked.

According to Mahanta, the festival, which is being organized in association with the Ministry of External Affairs, aims to advance the Act East Policy with a concentration on trade, tourism, and academic and cultural exchanges. The ministry responsible for the development of the North Eastern Region (DONER) will arrange a tourism conference and serve as a bridge between tour operators in North East India and Vietnam. Invest India will also host a trade conference to promote the Northeast as a desirable location for travel, business, and bilateral commerce. According to Mahanta, a people-to-people exchange meeting would also be arranged to provide a forum for academics, historians, and researchers from North East India to interact with their Vietnamese counterparts.

With the strong backing of the Indian government, NEIF has effectively opened up new vistas in India’s connection with Southeast Asia, Mahanta added. He said that the country’s largest event in Southeast Asia was organized with the resounding cooperation of the state governments in the North East, which also helped put Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Act East Policy vision into practice.
